Chennai Super Kings will take on Punjab Kings in the IPL 2024 on Wednesday (May 1) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

CSK are currently placed 3rd in the table with 10 points in nine matches. They secured a crucial win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in the last match. Punjab Kings remain 8th in the table but will be buoyant after their record-setting victory over KKR in the last match, where they chased down 262 runs with ease.

This is the first time CSK and PBKS are meeting each other this season. Incidentally, after the match on Wednesday (May 1), these two teams will lock horns again on Sunday (May 5) in Mohali.

In the IPL 2023, CSK won the title for the 5th time in their history. Punjab Kings suffered another dismal season and finished 8th in the table, thus missing out on the playoffs for the 9th season in a row.

They met once last year, but it was a Punjab Kings rejoice at the same venue as Wednesday's match.

CSK won the toss and batted first. Devon Conway scored an unbeaten 92 off 52 balls while Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 37 runs as CSK amassed 200 for 4 in their 20 overs. MS Dhoni also came late and scored 13 runs in just 4 balls.

Punjab Kings had a daunting task ahead but Prabhsimran Singh and Shikhar Dhawan provided them a good start. The pair added 50 runs for the opening wicket before Dhawan was dismissed. Liam Livingstone then played a fantastic knock of 40 runs in just 24 balls. Sam Curran and Jitesh Sharma also made crucial contributions but it was Zimbabwe star Sikandar Raza who won them the match in the last ball.
