Chennai Super Kings (CSK) vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), one of the standout fixtures of the Indian Premier League over the years, is set to take place inside the first week of the upcoming IPL 2025, which is slated to start on March 22.
The two sides may not be even when it comes to titles won as CSK blows away RCB with five trophies to none, but the Southern Derby, featuring the clash of two of India’s big superstars Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Virat Kohli, always gets the extra attention.

The Chennai-based side will be waiting for revenge when their neighbours arrive to the Den in Chepauk after the Bengaluru-based side knocked out the five-time champions from the IPL 2024 playoff race last season in their final league stage meeting in Bengaluru.
CSK and RCB have collided several times over the season with the two sides even playing the curtain-raisers a few times – most recently last season when Ruturaj Gaikwad’s side defeated their southern rivals to kick start the tournament.
BCCI officially released the IPL 2025 schedule on Sunday (February 16), revealing the dates for some of the feisty fixtures, including the highly-anticipated clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Chennai Super Kings.
The first meeting of CSK and RCB in IPL 2025, is set to take place on Friday (March 28) at the Chepauk in Chennai, where the Bengaluru-based side last won at the home of the five-time champions back in the inaugural edition in 2008. RCB will be hoping for change of fortunes with new skipper Rajat Patidar at the helm.
