CSK vs RCB: Rajat Patidar made a memorable mark in IPL history on Friday (March 28) by becoming just the second captain of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to lead his side to victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
The 31-year-old batter from Madhya Pradesh guided RCB to a commanding 50-run win in their IPL 2025 clash in Chennai also earning the Player Of The Match.

After CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad opted to bowl first in match No. 8, RCB set an imposing total of 196/7 in 20 overs. In response, the hosts were restricted to 146/8, falling short of the target. Fast bowler Josh Hazlewood starred with the ball for Bengaluru, claiming 3/21 in his four-over spell, while Yash Dayal and Liam Livingstone chipped in with two wickets each.
This victory marked RCB's first triumph against CSK at their fortress since May 21, 2008, when Rahul Dravid led the team to a narrow 14-run win, defending a modest total of 126.
Leading from the front, Patidar delivered a crucial knock at No. 4. He scored a well-compiled 51 off 32 balls, hitting four boundaries and three sixes. His composed innings played a vital role in RCB's competitive total, setting the stage for their historic victory.
Chasing a challenging target of 197, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) struggled to find momentum as their innings unraveled early. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rahul Tripathi were both dismissed within the first two overs, putting the home side on the back foot. Although Rachin Ravindra showed some resistance with a brisk 41 off 31 deliveries, regular wickets hampered any significant progress.
RCB's pace spearhead Josh Hazlewood was the standout performer with the ball, delivering an impressive spell of 3/21 in his allotted four overs. Left-arm pacer Yash Dayal also contributed effectively, picking up 2/18, while Liam Livingstone added to CSK's woes by claiming 2/28.
Despite a late flourish from MS Dhoni, who struck a quickfire 30 off just 16 balls, CSK's efforts weren't enough. They could only manage 146/8 in their 20 overs, falling short of the target by 50 runs.
