Rajasthan Royals secured a comprehensive victory over Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2026 Match 3 on Monday (March 30) at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati.
Super Kings, amid MS Dhoni's absence, crumbled big time. A paltry score of 127 runs was easily chased as the Royals started their season with an 8-wicket victory.

Chennai Super Kings' batting collapsed dramatically against Rajasthan Royals. Opting to bat first after losing the toss, CSK managed a below-par total of 127 all out in 19.4 overs.
Openers Sanju Samson (6 off 7) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (6 off 11) fell early to Nandre Burger and Jofra Archer respectively. Young Ayush Mhatre was dismissed for a duck, while Matthew Short struggled with just 2 runs. The middle order failed to build momentum as RR's pacers and spinners, including Ravindra Jadeja, kept striking at regular intervals.
Shivam Dube and lower-order batters like Jamie Overton tried to accelerate but could not prevent the slide. CSK lost wickets in clusters, finishing well short of a competitive total on a decent batting surface. RR's disciplined bowling restricted CSK to a modest 127, setting up an easy chase.
RR started all guns blazing in the run chase. Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal came out swinging and started putting pressure on the Super Kings bowlers in the powerplay. The 15-year-old Suryavanshi hit Matt Henry and Khaleel Ahmed for fun and continued his merry way with a 15-ball half-century.
Despite Suryavanshi's dismissal after a blistering 52, Dhruv Jurel and Yashasvi took the Royals home without breaking much sweat. Jurel scored 16 before Anshul Kamboj dismissed him, but Yashasvi Jaiswal saw through with an unbeaten 38 as the Royals won the match comfortably with almost 8 overs to spare.
