Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals will hope to continue their winning run when they meet in Match 17 of IPL 2023 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Wednesday (April 12).

Both CSK and RR possess a similar record, having won two of three matches so far for four points, and are separated only by Net Run Rate on the IPL 2023 points table. However, one of the teams will miss a key player when they take the field.

CSK Team News vs RR: Chennai Super Kings used the same team for their first two matches, but were forced into making a few changes in their most recent match due to illness and injury in the camp as Moeen Ali and Ben Stokes missed the match.

Ajinkya Rahane grabbed his opportunity with both hands, while South Africa all-rounder Dwaine Pretorius bowled a tight spell, but his compatriot Sisanda Malaga was a tad expensive with the ball. CSK also lost ace pacer Deepak Chahar in the last match to hamstring injury.

However, CSK will be boosted by the availability of their Sri Lankan players especially spinner Maheesh Theekshana and also the probable return of Moeen, who missed the last match due to illness. So, CSK, who will miss a few players, will be forced to a few changes.

RR Team News vs CSK: Rajasthan Royals have used the same core for all their matches so far with only Devdutt Padikkal moving out of contention following poor performance. There is no fresh injury for Royals from their last match.

So, they may retain the winning 11 from the victory over Delhi Capitals. They could also be tempted to use Adam Zampa in place of Jason Holder if they feel their batting can cope with the spin-attack of CSK. If not Zampa, RR may use Murugan Ashwin once again as an impact player.
