CSK vs SRH Toss Update, IPL 2025: The stage is set for another thrilling encounter in the Indian Premier League 2025, as the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) take on the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 43rd match of the season at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Both teams find themselves under immense pressure, with a loss potentially sealing their fate and pushing them closer to an early exit from the tournament. With the playoff hopes hanging by a thread, every ball, every over, and every wicket will matter tonight.

As the teams gear up for this Southern Derby, let's delve into the key details from the toss and everything you need to know for this vital encounter.
In a crucial toss decision, Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and elected to bowl first. This choice has been influenced by the evening dew, which has been a significant factor in previous games at Chepauk. The decision to bowl first allows SRH to assess the target before heading out to bat, keeping in mind the challenges posed by the conditions.
Chennai Super Kings, who are currently languishing at the bottom of the table, will now have to set a competitive total and hope their bowlers can execute well in the second half of the game. For both teams, this match is a chance to keep their faint playoff hopes alive, but the odds seem to be against them with each passing game.

“We wanted to bowl first because dew is expected to play a big role later in the game,” Dhoni explained. “When you’re not playing good cricket, there’s always pressure on both teams. We are focusing on getting our processes right and taking one game at a time. It’s important to believe in your ability and execute the plans to perfection. We’ve made two changes—Brevis and Hooda come in for Rachin and Shankar. The wicket looks a bit tricky, but we’re hopeful of adapting well.”
The Chennai Super Kings' captain, MS Dhoni, remained calm and focused on executing the basics. For Dhoni, it’s about trusting his team’s abilities and tweaking combinations to get the right balance as they continue to search for their elusive form in IPL 2025.
“We’ll bowl first,” Pat Cummins stated confidently. “Chennai is always a huge game for us, and although we’ve had a couple of losses, we’re feeling good coming into this match. The pitch looks a little dry, but we’re backing our bowlers to adapt and restrict Chennai to a reasonable total. If the wicket behaves well, we are confident in chasing down whatever target is set.”
Pat Cummins, who has been leading SRH with authority, seemed upbeat and hopeful about his team’s chances. He acknowledged the challenge ahead but is determined to make the most of a dry pitch in Chepauk.
The pitch at the MA Chidambaram Stadium has always been known for its slow, turning nature, and tonight's surface promises more of the same. As noted by Simon Doull and Michael Clarke, the dimensions of the ground are quite standard, with 70 metres on one side, 63 metres on the other, and 74 metres down the ground.
“It looks like a dry pitch, a little two-paced,” said Clarke, giving insight into the conditions. “The bowlers will be key tonight, especially with the change of pace. The slower balls will come into play, and the spinners could enjoy some turn as the game progresses.”
Doull also emphasised that the conditions might be tricky for both sides, suggesting that bowlers who adapt quickly to the surface could have a decisive impact. It is expected to be a low-scoring affair with a strong chance of spin and slower deliveries coming into play.
With both teams languishing at the bottom of the points table, the pressure to win is palpable. CSK, in particular, need a victory to avoid sinking further into the depths of the standings. The loss of form and the absence of some key players have hurt the team’s chances this season. However, with MS Dhoni at the helm, you can never rule out a late surge, even if the odds are stacked against them.
On the other hand, SRH will be hoping to make the most of a dry pitch, with Pat Cummins leading his side with intent. The Sunrisers have shown flashes of brilliance but have lacked consistency this season. Tonight, they face a must-win situation, and a victory would not only give them a vital boost but also push them ahead of CSK in the table.
