CWG: Indian athlete tests positive for Nandrolone

New Delhi, Oct 13: In a major blow to Indian team at the Delhi Commonwealth Games, the Commonwealth Games Federation on Wednesday, Oct 13 announced that one of the athletes of the host country has failed the dope test.

CGF chief Mike Fennell has confirmed that an Indian athlete has tested positive for banned substance, Nandrolone. Nandrolone is a performance enhancing drug banned by World Anti-doping agency.

Fennell, however, refused to disclose the name of the athlete as the B sample report of the athlete is still awaited.

He informed that the athlete has been issued notice and a response is expected by Wednesday, OCt 13 afternoon.

The dope test was conducted on Tuesday, Oct 12 night.

Media reports suggest that the unnamed sportsperson is not a medal winner and comes from a field of athletics.

The identity of the athlete is expected to be made public soon.
