Left-arm spinner Harsh Dubey may have joined the Sunrisers Hyderabad playing XI towards the back end of the IPL 2025 season, but he didn't take long to make a lasting impression.
In just three appearances, the 22-year-old picked up five wickets at an average of 19.60 - including a match-defining spell of 3 for 34 against Kolkata Knight Riders in their final league game.

Sunrisers head coach Daniel Vettori was quick to heap praise on the youngster, calling him a "clever and composed cricketer" who understands the game remarkably well for his age.
"Since coming into the XI, everything Dubey has done has been impressive," said Vettori. "He's a smart bowler, knows how to read the conditions, and adjusts quickly. That kind of game awareness is rare in a player so young."
But it's not just Dubey's bowling that has caught the eye. The SRH think tank sees him as a developing all-rounder - someone who can contribute meaningfully with the bat as well. "His batting ability was a big factor in our selection decisions," Vettori added. "We believe he has the potential to grow into a reliable all-rounder, which adds immense value to any team."
Dubey's IPL performances came on the heels of a stellar domestic season, where he played a pivotal role in Vidarbha's triumphant Ranji Trophy campaign. He finished the 2024-25 first-class season with a staggering 69 wickets - a record for the tournament - and was instrumental in powering Vidarbha to their second title. His domestic heroics also earned him a well-deserved call-up to the India A squad for the upcoming tour of England.
Looking ahead, Vettori is optimistic about Dubey's growth. "From now till the next IPL, he'll get a lot of cricket under his belt - whether with India A or in domestic matches. We're confident he'll evolve further as both a bowler and a batter."
In a season marked by ups and downs for senior players, Harsh Dubey's emergence stands out as one of the brightest stories - a clear sign of India's strong bench strength and the next generation's readiness for the big stage.
