Day-Night Fixtures and Timings of ICC World Cup 2023

The fixtures, dates, timings and venues for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023 were released on Tuesday (June 27). The 50-over show-piece event is set to start on October 5 and conclude with the final on November 19.

The 13th edition of the ICC ODI World Cup will be spread across 46 days and will be played across 10 venues in the country with the world's largest cricket stadium - Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad set to open the tournament opener and the final.

A total of 10 teams will battle for the coveted title at the showcase event. The first eight have already qualified through the Cricket World Cup Super League, while the final two spots will be determined at the end of the Qualifier tournament in Zimbabwe, which concludes on July 9.

In the show-piece event set for October-November this year, each team will play the other nine in a round robin format with the top four qualifying for the knockout stage - semi-finals and then the winner of the last four clash will meet in the final.

The World Cup kicks off with a repeat of the 2019 Final as England take on New Zealand in Ahmedabad, while hosts India begin their campaign on October 8 against five-time World Cup winners Australia in Chennai.

Every venue except Hyderabad will host five matches each, while the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium will host only three matches. Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, Lucknow, Dharamsala, Chennai and Delhi will host five matches each.

What is the start time for the day matches and the day-night matches in ICC ODI World Cup 2023?

Among the 48 matches, including the two semifinals and the final, only six matches will be day matches (10:30 AM start), while the remaining 42 will be a day-night match (2 PM start).

All the nine round-robin matches of hosts India will all start at 2 PM IST, while Bangladesh, New Zealand, Australia and the two qualifiers will see few of their matches start at 10:30 AM IST.

Also, there are six double-header days in the 2023 World Cup schedule - four Saturdays and the last Sunday of the round-robin stage. Hosts India will play five of their nine round robin matches on a Sunday and, all their matches are day and night contests (2 PM IST start) in the tournament.
