DC Captains in IPL: Delhi Capitals (DC) has appointed Indian all-rounder Axar Patel as the skipper of the team ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League season 18 - IPL 2025.
Following the release of Rishabh Pant and his move to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the mega auction, there was much speculation about who will lead DC with Axar, KL Rahul and Faf Du Plessis' names being the favourites for the vacant slot.

The speculation was put to bed on Friday (March 14) just a few days before the season gets underway as Axar with prior IPL captaincy experience of one match at DC and two seasons as vice captain, was named the skipper.
The Delhi-based franchise, which is one of four current IPL teams yet to taste success in IPL, have seen several player lead the team in the Indian Premier League (IPL) since the T20 tournament's inception in 2008, when they were known as Delhi Daredevils.
With 13 captains at the helm, DC has had the most captains in IPL history starting with legend Virender Sehwag in the inaugural edition to Rishabh Pant in recent seasons. Sehwag and Pant are the two players with most captaincy appearance for DC followed by Shreyas Iyer.
Shreyas is the only captain that led Delhi Capitals to as far as the final, while the remaining DC skippers failed to get to the title clash during their stints. Big name stars of the game have led the Capitals over the past few seasons.
The likes of Gautam Gambhir, Mahela Jayawardene, Kevin Pietersen, David Warner, JP Duminy, Zaheer Khan and more have all captained DC without seeing much success. Here is a look at Delhi Capitals' captains over the years:
