DC IPL 2027 Auction: Four Players Delhi Capitals may Release ahead of Mini Auction
Delhi Capitals will have a new-looked backroom as they enter the field for the IPL 2027 season. After Sourav Ganguly's appointment as head coach, the former India skipper may look to bring in a few changes in the squad.
Here are four names who the Delhi Capitals may look to offload ahead of the IPL 2027 mini auction. DC have already roped in a couple of players via trade deal, as Rishabh Pant and Zeeshan Ansari have joined the team. On the other hand, they have also traded Kuldeep Yadav to Lucknow Super Giants and T Natarajan to Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Mukesh Kumar (₹8 Crore)
Delhi used a Right to Match card to secure Mukesh Kumar for ₹8 crore. Management expected a reliable, dual-phase Indian pacer. The 2026 numbers delivered a massive reality check.
Mukesh grabbed a mere six wickets in 10 outings. His economy rate mirrored Natarajan's struggles, sitting at a bloated 11.18. Bowling 31.5 overs, the seamer conceded 356 runs while carrying a terrible bowling average of 71.20. Taking domestic Indian pace out of the squad is always risky. Pumping ₹8 crore into a bowler averaging nearly sixty runs per wicket is financial sabotage. Sending him back to the bidding pool clears essential capital.\
Dushmantha Chameera (₹75 Lakh)
Express pace means nothing if a bowler cannot stay on the park. Dushmantha Chameera carries incredible raw speed. He also carries a brutal history of breaking down.
Wasting a precious overseas slot and a ₹75 lakh contract on an injury-prone fast bowler handcuffs the coaching staff. He played only 1 match where he bowled 2 overs and conceded 18 runs. Delhi requires absolute durability from their foreign pace contingent. Cutting the Sri Lankan quick immediately opens an international roster spot, allowing scouts to target battle-tested, physically reliable fast bowlers instead.
Auqib Nabi (₹8.40 Crore)
Domestic pace backups need to capitalize on rare opportunities. Auqib Nabi failed to grab his chances during the 2026 campaign.
The Jammu & Kashmir seamer featured sparsely. He bowled 13 overs and conceded 149 runs with no wickets in his bag. He delivered a forgettable four-over spell against the Punjab Kings in Dharamshala, leaking 32 runs without taking a single wicket. A brief appearance at Eden Gardens against Kolkata Knight Riders yielded zero wickets for 23 runs off just two overs. Franchises use the mini-auction to churn the bottom of their roster. Releasing Nabi instantly sheds his ₹8.40 crore contract and allows Delhi to trial younger, untested domestic speedsters.
Pathum Nissanka (₹4 Crore)
Delhi Capitals may release Pathum Nissanka ahead of IPL 2027 despite the Sri Lankan opener scoring 278 runs in 10 matches during his debut season. His overseas-player status, competition for opening slots and the need to strengthen other departments could influence the decision. However, his impressive strike rate of 158.86 makes retaining him a viable option for the franchise. But if DC want to focus on other areas, offloading him would bring in a chunkable cash for auction.
