DC vs CSK IPL 2024: Delhi Capitals' fast bowler Khaleel Ahmed delivered a match-winning performance against Chennai Super Kings on Sunday (March 31), leading to his team's first victory in IPL 2024.

The left-arm pacer from Rajasthan, with his impressive figures of 2/22 in four overs, played a pivotal role in DC's 20-run win at the ACA–VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. His efforts earned him the Player of the Match award.

Batting first, DC's batters set the stage with David Warner and Rishabh Pant scoring half-centuries, setting a formidable target of 191/5. The bowling unit, led by Mukesh Kumar and Khaleel Ahmed, then limited CSK to 171/6.

Ahmed shared his thoughts post-match, highlighting his long-awaited opportunity to contribute significantly to the team's success. He attributed his performance to the confidence gained from the domestic season and continuous play over the last six months.

Khaleel Ahmed spoke about the importance of the win, especially after a series of losses. He expressed the morale boost the team received, emphasising how victories help in understanding and improving the game. The win against CSK not only provided answers to pressing questions but also outlined a clearer strategy for upcoming matches.

Kahleel said, "I was waiting for a long time to perform for the team. When I started, I realised I was getting good swing, so I just backed it up and didn't allow the opposition any chance."

He further added, "The more you play, the more you understand your game. The same happened with me as I have been playing continuously for six months, I got to understand my game plans, and my body and managing to play in small niggles. It all came due to the domestic season, it gave me good confidence before coming into the IPL and it's been a great feeling."

Speaking about the importance of the win, the 26-year-old said, "When you lose back-to-back matches, you feel bad. To be honest, there's a lot of happiness due to this win."

"When you win, it gives you good momentum, the win makes you understand the good aspects of your game and how you can learn. This win gave us a lot of answers to our questions, and it will make things easier on how to approach our next games," he concluded.

Delhi Capitals are scheduled to face Kolkata Knight Riders next, continuing their IPL 2024 campaign at the ACA–VDCA Cricket Stadium. Ahmed's insights and reflections underscore the team's focus on leveraging their win to maintain momentum in the tournament.
