Who won yesterday's WPL Match: Jess Jonassen’s all-round brilliance helped Delhi Capitals (DC) get back to winning ways and to the top of the standings in Women’s Premier League season 3 with a 6-wicket victory over Gujarat Giants (GG) in Bengaluru on Tuesday (February 25).
Put into bat, Gujarat Giants lost half their side with only 41 runs on the board in 8.1 overs, but knocks from Deandra Dottin, Tanuja Kanwar and Bharti Fulmali took the team to a respectable total of 127/9 in their allotted 20 overs at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

In response, Delhi Capitals lost their skipper Meg Lanning early, but Shafali Verma and Jonassen shared a 74-run stand to power their team past the target with 4.5 overs (29 balls) to spare.
With this result, Delhi Capitals registered their third win this season and leapfrogged Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru to claim the top spot in the WPL points table. GG, on the other hand, remain rooted at the foot of the table.
DC-W all-rounder Jess Jonassen received the player of the match award for her match-winning unbeaten 61 off 32 balls that included 9 fours and 2 sixes, helping Delhi Capitals pull off the chase after she produced figures of 1 for 24 with the ball to help restrict GG to a low score.
Delhi Capitals’ Jess Jonassen was the top run-getter on the night with 61* off 32 balls, while her teammate Shafali Verma (44 off 27 balls) was the next highest run-scorer in yesterday’s match. GG’s Bharti Fulmali was her team’s top scorer with 40* off 29 balls.
DC’s Shikha Pandey (2/18), Marizanne Kapp (2/17) and Annabel Sutherland (2/20) as well as GG’s Kashve Gautam (2/26) all claimed two wickets each to finish as the night’s joint highest wicket-takers.
