Kolkata Knight Riders are up against Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2024 on Wednesday (April 3), and the participation of Mitchell Starc is under question.
KKR paid a fortune of Rs 24.75 crore in the IPL 2024 auction for Mitchell Starc, but the Australian hasn't had any impact so far in the tournament.

Starc has conceded 100 runs in just eight overs of his bowling in the first two matches without picking up a single wicket. The Australian was dismantled in the death overs while he looked equally toothless in the powerplay as well.
Starc conceded 53 runs in the first match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Heinrich Klaasen scored 26 runs in his final over of the match as KKR almost lost at Eden Gardens. Against RCB, the story was the same as Starc conceded 47 runs without any success.
As KKR face the Capitals in Vizag, there are speculations that Starc may be given a break. The Australian is being tipped to sit out in this match as KKR are exploring options elsewhere.
If Mitchell Starc is to be replaced, there are a few options. KKR can bring in someone like Dushmantha Chameera. The Sri Lankan was roped in as a replacement for Gus Atkinson and may be handed a chance. Also, they can bring in an overseas batter like Sherfance Rutherford and play someone like Vaibhav Arora as the third pacer.
Amid all the theories, Mitchell Starc looks set to play against Delhi Capitals. The Australian has gone expensive but KKR bowling coach Bharat Arun took the player's side in the pre-match press conference. Although Starc is likely to keep his place against Delhi, he will have to step up. The Aussie obviously has a pressure of the amount on him, but he will have to showcase his worth to warrant a place in the starting lineup in the upcoming matches.
