In Match 64 of IPL 2024, Delhi Capitals will host Lucknow Super Giants at Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Tuesday (May 14). DC are 6th on the table with 12 points in 13 matches while LSG is 7th with the same number of points, but have played one match less.
After a defeat against RCB in the last match, it became more difficult for the host to qualify for the play-offs. A win against LSG might not be sufficient for the Capitals as they can get only to 14 points.

On the other hand, LSG have two games in hand and they have to win both of those to remain relevant in the race to play-offs. However, their net run rate took a severe blow due to their two consecutive defeats with huge margins in the last two matches.
Both of the franchises have met each other on four occasions and Lucknow has the upper hand as they won three of them. The only victory of DC had come this year, in their last meeting, where the Capitals registered a victory by 6 wickets.
DC has a quite balanced bowling squad this season. Khaleel Ahmed and Mukesh Kumar have been their main pacer duo and despite getting wickets regularly they remain highly expensive.
On the other hand, their spin attack has been brilliant so far. Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel combinedly picked 25 wickets. The Return of Ishant Sharma also bolstered their pace-battery.
LSG's bowling attack, meanwhile, is somewhat pace-heavy and their pace unit had a decent display till now this season. Yash Thakur, Naveen ul Haq and Mohsin Khan have been their regular pacers.
Mohsin Khan sitting out the last match due to a concussion injury but might make a return in the game against DC. The injury of Mayank Yadav has been costly for the Lucknow side. The spin department of LSG has been managed by Ravi Bishnoi and Krunal Pandya.
Kuldeep Yadav (DC): The 29-year-old Chinaman bowler has 15 wickets in IPL 2024. This left-arm wrist-spinner has successful records against Nicholas Pooran. Yadav has dismissed the LSG power hitter five times in the past and also scalped him at a golden duck in the reverse fixture. It will be crucial to keep a check on the LSG middle order.
Mukesh Kumar (DC): The Indian right-arm medium pacer has bagged 16 wickets in just nine matches and is also the highest wicket-taker for DC, along with Khaleel Ahmed. The 30-year-old is needed to be spot on against the LSG top order batters like KL Rahul and Marcus Stoinis.
Yash Thakur (LSG): The 25-year-old right-arm medium pacer has picked 11 wickets this season. The Indian pacer had a great display against GT with a five-wicket haul. Getting an early wicket of Jake Fraser-McGruk or David Warner would be the main challenge for him in this match.
Ravi Bishnoi (LSG): The 23-year-old Indian youngster has been decent this season. The right-arm leg-spinner has 7 wickets this season. With 60 wickets in his IPL career, he would like to enrich his wicket tally against the Capitals.
Though neither of today's participants is out of the race for the play-offs of IPL 2024, winning this match would not secure a spot in the top four. A win for DC will end the LSG's campaign for this year, though a narrow win would not help DC either.
For LSG, even if they manage to secure four points from the next two matches, they need to deliver some miraculous display of cricket to improve their run rates up to the mark. Hence, both teams are expected to give their all to register a win to keep their playoff dreams alive.
