DC vs MI Dream11 prediction, IPL 2023: Fantasy Suggestions, Captain and Vice Captain, Impact Sub Options

By Aditya K Halder

DC vs MI Dream11 prediction: Delhi Capitals (DC) will be playing host to Mumbai Indians (MI) in match 16 of Indian Premier League season 16 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Monday. Both the outfits are struggling to get off the mark with no wins so far.

Delhi Capitals were unconvincing in all their three losses to Lucknow Super Giants, Gujarat Titans, and Rajasthan Royals respectively while Mumbai Indians were outgunned by Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings in lopsided defeats.

As far as head-to-head is concerned, MI have a 17-15 advantage over Tuesday's rivals. However, DC won three of the four games against Rohit Sharma's side, including their last encounter at the Wankhede last season.

DC vs MI injury update

DC injury update Delhi Capitals are without hard-hitting all-rounder Mitchell Marsh for a week as he is back home for his wedding. Pacer Khaleel Ahmed has been ruled out for the game after a hamstring injury, which was sustained during the last game against Rajasthan Royals.

Key players David Warner has been the man in form for the side with two half-centuries in three games but the skipper has lacked support from the other end. Prithvi Shaw has managed just 21 runs in three innings while Manish Pandey started his IPL 2023 with a duck in the last game. Rilee Rossouw has been in good touch this season but his best is yet to come at the IPL.

The same is true for Rovman Powell with just 14 runs in two games while all-rounder Lalit Yadav impressed with his 24-ball 38 to give some hope in the middle order. Abhishek Porel meanwhile has shown he can slog it in the death overs while Axar Patel wasn't exactly promoted up the batting order and managed just two runs in the last game. The southpaw is still in good form this season.

Axar couldn't take a wicket in the last game but his bowling could be crucial on a Kotla track, which tends to get slower with every game. Lalit also becomes key with his off-break bowling but wasn't asked to bowl against RR. DC spin department, however, will revolve around Kuldeep Yadav, who will like to increase his wicket tally after just two wickets in three games.

Among pacers, Anrich Nortje will be in the lead and will be feeling confident after he took two wickets in his last game at the venue. Chetan Sakariya, Ishant Sharma and Kamlesh Nagarkoti are likely to fight it out for the spot for the third pacer with Mukesh Kumar likely to keep his spot after a couple of wickets in the last game.

MI injury update Mumbai Indians' pace bowling troubles may continue as Jofra Archer remains uncertain for the game. His absence could lead to Riley Meredith's return to the line-up after domestic bowlers struggled.

Key players Forms of all senior stars in Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, and Ishan Kishan have been a worry with none of them firing big knocks yet. Yadav, in particular, has struggled to touch double-digit figures while Kishan give himself something to cheer about with a 30-odd innings vs CSK. Tilak Verma becomes key amid the stars' struggles as the batter scored 84* recently.

Tim David got some rhythm with a knock 31 in the last game while Cameron Green has struggled to get going. The much-talked-about talent Dewald Brevis hasn't played this season but his compatriot Tristan Stubbs had a bad start to his IPL campaign with a 5-run knock.

Spin bowling is often effective at Kotla, making Piyush Chawla and Kumar Kartikeya crucial for the game while Hrithik Shokeen may get another opportunity to prove himself. Left-arm pacer Arshad Khan was taken to the cleaners by Ajinkya Rahane in the last game and will be needing the support of his team to climb up from the onslaught. Jason Behrendorff took a wicket in the last game and is likely to keep his spot for the experience he brings.

DC vs MI pitch report

The Arun Jaitley Stadium is known to be on the slower side with spinners being more effective on the surface. The short boundary dimension and quick outfield provides runs, especially against pacers. Saying that, fast bowlers, who are good at varying their pace, line and length, are often successful at Ferozeshah Kotla ground.
