DC vs MI IPL 2025: Who Was The Unsung Hero As Mumbai Indians Edge Delhi Capitals In Thrilling Clash?

DC vs MI: In a high-scoring thriller at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Mumbai Indians clinched a 12-run victory over Delhi Capitals in Match 29 of IPL 2025 on 13th April 2025.

But the evening also witnessed the heartwarming return of Karun Nair - the unsung hero who gave Delhi a glimmer of hope with a classy half-century.

DC vs MI

Mumbai Indians posted a formidable 205/5, with Tilak Varma (59 off 33), Naman Dhir (38* off 17), and Ryan Rickelton (41 off 25) leading the charge. Naman Dhir's brilliance was capped off by an audacious four-run hustle off the final delivery - a moment that summed up MI's aggressive intent. The final over saw Dhir place a leg-side flick, prompting an overthrow that allowed the batters to run four, lifting the score just over the 200 mark.

Chasing 206, Delhi Capitals were rocked early with Jake Fraser-McGurk falling off the very first ball to Deepak Chahar. But it was Karun Nair, returning to the IPL after three years, who steadied the ship. Coming in at No. 3, Nair displayed composure and control to compile a stylish 89 off just 40 deliveries, peppered with 12 boundaries and 2 sixes. This was his first IPL half-century in seven years, a milestone that comes on the back of his impressive performances in the domestic circuit.

While wickets kept tumbling at the other end, Nair held firm, guiding Delhi to 135/3 by the 12th over. However, the Mumbai bowlers, led by Karn Sharma (3/36) and Mitchell Santner (2/32), applied the brakes at just the right time. Bumrah delivered yet another economical spell, finishing with figures of 1/44, while Hardik Pandya and Boult chipped in to restrict the lower order.

Delhi eventually folded for 193 in 19 overs, falling 13 runs short of what could've been a memorable chase. Though the Capitals were left ruing their missed opportunity, the performance of Karun Nair was the silver lining. His gritty knock not only kept DC in the hunt but also marked a personal resurgence.
