Who won yesterday's WPL Match: Jess Jonassen and Meg Lanning starred as Delhi Capitals (DC) completed the double over Mumbai Indians (MI) in Women’s Premier League season 3 with a 9-wicket victory in Bengaluru on Friday (February 28).
Put into bat, Mumbai Indians managed to get to only 35 in the powerplay, losing only one wicket in the process. The inaugural champions then managed to get to 100 for 4 in 16 overs with collective contributions as Jonassen managed to put the squeeze in for DC.

Then there was a collapse as they lost five wickets in a hurry. However, Amanjot Kaur’s late cameo helped the Mumbai Indians post 123/9 in their allotted 20 overs at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
In response, Delhi Capitals rode on their skipper Meg Lanning’s unbeaten 60, her opening partner Shafali Verma’s 43 and Jemimah Rodrigues’ undefeated 15 to power DC past the target with 5.3 overs (33 balls) to spare.
With this result, Delhi Capitals registered their fourth win this season to retain their top spot in the WPL points table. Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, remained in second despite the defeat, but can be overtaken by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), who face DC on Saturday (March 1).
DC-W all-rounder Jess Jonassen received the player of the match award for her excellent bowling spell of 3 for 25 in 4 overs, which helped her team restrict Mumbai Indians to a low score.
Delhi Capitals captain was the top run-getter on the night with 60* off 49 balls, while her teammate and opening partner Shafali Verma (43 off 28 balls) was the next highest run-scorer in yesterday’s match.
Delhi Capitals’ Jess Jonassen with figures of 3 for 25 as well as her teammate Minnu Mani, who claimed 3 for 17 finished as the joint top wicket-takers on the night when the other bowlers managed to either pick one wicket or finished wicketless.
