Delhi Capitals registered a resounding victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore on Saturday (May 6) to keep their IPL 2023 playoffs hopes alive. The DC beat RCB by 7 wickets with 20 balls to spare.
A fantastic performance in the last five games has turned things around as they have won four out of them. RCB scored 181/4 out of their 20 overs. Virat Kohli (55 off 46 balls) was the star with the bat for them as he completed 7000 IPL runs. Mahipal Lomror's (54 off 29 balls) blinder took the away side beyond the 180-mark.

Chasing 182 runs, the Capitals came all guns blazing. Philip Salt and David Warner gave them a blistering start. Warner was sent back but Salt kept on his onslaught and built a strong partnership with Mitchell Marsh to give them a solid base in the run chase.
Salt ended up scoring 87 runs off just 45 balls and ensured the victory for DC. Rilee Rossouw (35 off 22) and Mitchell Marsh (26 off 17) also played a decent part in their win.

Faf du Plessis (RCB Captain): "I felt it was pretty close, I thought 185 was a pretty good score. The dew took the spinners out of the game, but credit to them (DC batters) as well. You like your spinners in the game, but you need to bowl in the right areas despite of the dew. They really batted well. We didn't maximise towards the end. We felt like 185 was a par score, we needed one big over that could take us to 200, that would have made a difference. But that's what happens when you apply pressure. I was really pleased to see Lomror at 5 and he played really well, still really good positive for him. That's the nature of the slow pitch, you always try to come in the first six overs and try to get on top of the game."
David Warner (DC Captain): "It was amazing. I thought 180 was par score. Ball started to skidding on, with the intent that we had led by Phil Salt, we chased the total down. Siraj bowling extremely well and we knew if we take him on, that will go in our favour."
(On Bowlers) "Credit to the way the bowlers have bowled. They have been fantastic. Anrich is not there, with Ishan leading and Khaleel, it makes us a strong unit. With the experience of Kuldeep and Axar, we've got the momentum now. We go on to Chennai now. That will be a tough game. But we have found the right balance at the right time."
Philip Salt (Player of the Match): "I spoke before the game about being positive. We knew the wicket was slow and low, and we spoke about playing off the backfoot. I thought 180 was par, I felt we would have to bat really well to get there."
(On Mitchell Marsh) "He came in and hit the second ball for six or something like that, it put bowlers on the backfoot. Loving the support, especially here in Delhi. Few RCB supporters here, but thank you for the support."
