DC vs RCB IPL 2025: Who Was The Unsung Hero As Bengaluru Beat Delhi By 6 Wickets?

DC vs RCB: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) continued their record-breaking away run in IPL 2025, securing a comprehensive six-wicket win over Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Sunday, April 27.

This victory marked their sixth consecutive win on the road, a first in IPL history, and propelled them to the top of the points table with seven wins from 10 matches.

DC vs RCB

Chasing 163 on a sluggish, two-paced pitch, RCB were given a tough challenge early in the innings. Delhi's bowlers, led by Axar Patel, reduced RCB to a precarious 26/3, with debutant Jacob Bethell and in-form Devdutt Padikkal falling quickly.

RCB's captain Rajat Patidar was then run out due to a miscommunication with Virat Kohli, leaving the visitors in deep trouble. However, the ever-reliable Kohli, alongside Krunal Pandya, steadied the ship. Kohli's calm 51 off 47 balls gave RCB the much-needed anchor, but it was Krunal, promoted to No. 5, who took control of the chase with an unbeaten 73 off 47 balls, including four sixes and five boundaries.

While Kohli and Krunal were the headline acts in RCB's victory, the unsung hero of the night was Suyash Sharma. The young spinner's performance went largely under the radar, but his disciplined spell played a crucial role in keeping Delhi's total under control.

Sharma finished with tidy figures of 0/22 from his four overs, containing the flow of runs in the middle overs and making key breakthroughs difficult for Delhi's batters. His control in the middle phase prevented Delhi from building any significant partnerships, allowing the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar (3/33) and Josh Hazlewood (0/36) to do the damage at the top and lower end.

Delhi's innings had been off to a strong start with the explosive Abishek Porel (28 off 11 balls), but Bhuvneshwar's incisive bowling removed key batsmen like Rahul and Stubbs, while Hazlewood provided steady support.

Despite the late flurry from Delhi's lower order, they could only muster 162/8 in their 20 overs, a total that always seemed below par on a pitch that offered little to the bowlers.

In reply, while the top order faltered, Krunal and Kohli's steady partnership guided RCB over the line. The calmness of Kohli, combined with Krunal's attacking shots, saw RCB chase down the target in just 18.3 overs, securing the six-wicket win with nine balls to spare.

Krunal's match-winning knock earned him the Player of the Match award, but the contributions of Suyash Sharma were vital in controlling the game. RCB's win further confirmed their dominance in IPL 2025, as they continue their unbeaten away streak, setting a new standard for the league.
