Ravichandran Ashwin returned to form with an outstanding bowling display against Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2024 match on Tuesday (May 7).

Rajasthan Royals decided to bowl first and it was a freak show from Jake Fraser-McGurk and Abishek Porel with an excellent batting display.

But Ashwin came in his first over and got the wicket of Fraser-McGurk. The off-spinner also got the key wicket of Abishek Porel, who scored 65 runs off just 36 balls before his dismissal. Apart from them, Ashwin also departed Axar Patel and bowled brilliantly in his spell.

Delhi Capitals scored 221 runs in their full quota of overs. Although the other bowlers got battered, Ashwin ended up with figures of 3 for 24 in four overs.

The veteran bowler had only two wickets prior to the match, but now has taken his tally to 5 wickets after his fantastic bowling performance.

Fans and Experts reacted on X (formerly Twitter) after Ashwin's bowling outing. The 37-year-old also became the highest wicket-taker against Delhi Capitals. He now has 27 wickets against the Capitals, the joint-most with Piyush Chawla.

"Brilliant comeback from Ashwin. If your team is doing well it allows u to come back to form," former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan wrote on his X profile.

This is a wild speculation though. Although May 25 is the deadline of squad submission, surely Yuzvendra Chahal won't be replaced by Ravichandran Ashwin in the India squad.

This user was perhaps a bit sceptical on Ashwin before the match, hence he apologized to the RR spinner.
