DC vs RR: It was hear-break for Delhi Capitals' Abishek Porel as his dismissal was a cruel blow, especially as he stood just one run away from a well-earned half-century during an IPL 2025 match against Rajasthan Royals on 16th April, Wednesday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
On the very ball after getting a reprieve, Porel took a calculated risk that didn't pay off. Wanindu Hasaranga tossed one up outside off in the fifth ball of the 14th over, inviting the big shot.

Porel accepted the invitation and tried to go aerial, aiming for the boundary. However, the execution let him down-the bat face twisted on impact, and he failed to get the power or elevation he needed.
Instead of clearing the boundary, the ball sliced off the bat and went straight to Riyan Parag at long-off. Parag judged it well, running in and completing a comfortable catch. It was a tame end to what had been a composed and promising innings, and falling for 49 would have been especially frustrating for the young batter.
The fans took to X soon after his dismissal and expressed their disappointment as the promising Bengal batter was playing so well.
''Abhishek Porel ne half century banane nhi pae sirf 1 runs ke wajah se (fell short of a fifty by just a run'', a fan wrote on X.
''Hasaranga bullied the daylights out of Abhishek Porel tonight'', another user wrote.
''Abhishek Porel departs for 49, has again played a sensible innings'', said an X user.
At the time of writing this article, Delhi Capitals are now batting at 153/5 with Ashutosh Sharma and Tristan Stubbs at the crease. Porel has been so far been the top scorer for the Capitals, while captain Axar Patel played an eye-catching cameo of 34(14). With their current run-rate, Delhi will try their best to reach the 180-mark.
