DC vs RR IPL 2025: Karun Nair’s Mix-Up Sparks X Frenzy After Shocking Run-Out Against Rajasthan

DC vs RR: Karun Nair's gained unwanted limelight during Delhi's IPL 2025 match on 16th April at the Arun Jaitley Stadium against Rajasthan Royals as a case of miscommunication with batting partner Abhishek Porel, which cost him his wicket.

The incident happened in the fourth over of the match, where RR's Sandeep Sharma bowled a length delivery from around the wicket to Abishek Porel. Porel attempted a pull shot, but it didn't connect cleanly. Instead, the ball took an inside edge, hit his thigh pad, and rolled towards point.

Now, in the heat of the moment, Porel initially called for a run, prompting Karun Nair to respond. Karun took off and had already covered half the pitch when Porel suddenly changed his mind and sent him back. That left Karun stranded in no man's land.

Though Sandeep Sharma at point didn't react with urgency at first-he collected the ball a bit casually-he still had enough time to aim and throw it at the non-striker's end. Hasaranga was also involved in gathering the ball, which helped tighten the angle.

The throw found the stumps just before Karun could return to safety. After scoring 89 in the previous match, the unfortunate run-out meant a duck for Karun Nair in this one-an example of how quickly fortunes can swing in cricket, especially in the cash-rich league.

Here's a look at the some of the reactions on X.

''Sorry but that was too sloppy from Karun Nair'', a fan expressed his opinion.

''It is a bad day for Karun Nair, don't worry he will bounce back very soon'', an user wrote.

''DUCK for Karun Nair...!!! Brilliant work in the field - Sandeep Sharma with an incredible run-out!'', a fan was all in praise for Sandeep Sharma.

Speaking of the match so far, Delhi Capitals put into bat first by Rajasthan have scored 56/2 (7) with KL Rahul and Abhishek Porel at the crease. Earlier Jake Fraser-McGurk went back to the pavilion after scoring just 9 runs.
