DC vs RR IPL 2025: Sandeep Sharma Joins Siraj and Shardul In Unwanted List, Becomes 4th Bowler To Achieve Embarrassing Feat

DC vs RR: In a rare and rather unwanted record in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Rajasthan Royals pacer Sandeep Sharma has become the fourth bowler to deliver an 11-ball over.

The incident occurred during the 20th over of Delhi Capitals' innings in their IPL 2025 clash at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Wednesday, 16th April.

Sandeep, who had bowled economically in his first three overs, saw things spiral out of control in the final over of the innings. The experienced pacer bowled four wides and one no-ball, with Delhi batters Tristan Stubbs and Ashutosh Sharma cashing in during the chaotic final moments. The over not only dented Rajasthan Royals' bowling figures but also added Sandeep's name to an infamous list.

He now joins Mohammed Siraj, Tushar Deshpande, and Shardul Thakur as bowlers who have sent down the most deliveries in a single IPL over - 11 balls. Siraj was the first to achieve this embarrassing milestone in 2023 during the 19th over against Mumbai Indians in Bengaluru. Deshpande followed suit in the same year with an 11-ball over against Lucknow Super Giants in Chennai. Most recently, Shardul Thakur conceded an 11-ball over in the 2025 edition, bowling the 13th over for KKR in Kolkata, which included consecutive 5 wides.

Most balls in an over in IPL

11 balls Mohd Siraj vs MI Bengaluru 2023 (Over #19)
11 balls Tushar Deshpande vs LSG Chennai 2023 (Over #4)
11 balls Shardul Thakur vs KKR Kolkata 2025 (Over #13)
11 balls Sandeep Sharma vs DC Delhi 2025 (Over #20)

Speaking of the match, Abhishek Porel (49), Tristan Stubbs (34), KL Rahul and Axar Patel (38) contributed with the bat to take the score to 188/5.

While it's not the kind of record any bowler would want to be associated with, it underlines the pressure and unpredictability of bowling at the death in T20 cricket - even for seasoned campaigners like Sandeep Sharma.
