Delhi Capitals (DC) will be hopeful of having Faf Du Plessis fit and available for their upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 matches, starting with Wednesday's clash against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
The former South African batter Du Plessis has missed two matches so far for DC in the ongoing IPL season with injury. The 40-year-old, who plays across the world in franchise cricket, has scored 83 runs, including a fifty, in three innings this season.

The right-handed top order batter opened the batting for DC in his three appearance, scoring a fifty against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and a 29 against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) before registering 2 against his former side Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
The IPL veteran missed the clash against another former team in Chennai Super Kings (CSK), but returned for the clash against RCB in Bengaluru, where he probably aggravated his injury while fielding.
In his absence, DC used KL Rahul up the order gainst CSK, while they promoted Abhishek Porel up top alongside Jake Fraser-McGurk in their only defeat of the season against Mumbai Indians (MI).
As the form of Fraser-McGurk is a worry, DC could use some help with the return of Du Plessis for their remaining games. But will the former Proteas skipper be available for the contest tonight? Here is the latest update on Du Plessis' fitness:
Faf Du Plessis injury update: While the latest info available on his fitness is, "he's improving", the player himself had provided an update after missing DC's defeat to Mumbai Indians last week.
Du Plessis revealed that he picked up an injury while fielding in the RCB game, but the opening batter expressed his desire to be 100% fit within a week. Here is what the South African said:
"Unfortunately, the boys used me as an impact player in the last game (RCB on April 10) and I fielded as well, which I regret now, standing up here. I'm not wearing the spikes. I have been really lucky in the last 3 years to finish competitions and not miss out through injury," Du Plessis had said during DC vs MI.
"This is new grounds for me where you are trying to be 100% fit but you are not quite there. The competent in you want to get back as soon as possible. But playing the patient game. Hopefully, I get that right in the next week and get ready for the back end of the tournament."
Going by the above statement, Du Plessis could be back for today's clash against DC. But there is no official update on his availability. If he does pass fitness test and plays, Du Plessis could come into the team again as an impact substitute with Karun Nair likely to retain his spot in the Delhi Capitals playing 11.
