DC vs SRH: Sunrisers Hyderabad's (SRH) batting woes continued as they faced Delhi Capitals (DC) in the ongoing IPL 2025 match at the ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam.
Despite a promising start to their campaign, SRH's batting lineup faltered again, with their star batters struggling to make an impact. However, the moment that sparked a frenzy on social media was Abhishek Sharma's unfortunate run-out, triggered by a disastrous mix-up with Travis Head.

The incident unfolded in the very first over of the match when SRH, having won the toss, opted to bat first. Mitchell Starc, leading DC's pace attack, delivered a full-length ball outside the off-stump. Head pushed it towards the offside and immediately called for a single. However, Abhishek, stationed at the non-striker's end, instinctively gestured for Head to stay put, sensing the fielder's proximity. Unfortunately, Head ignored the signal and charged ahead, leaving Abhishek stranded.
Forced into a desperate sprint, Abhishek attempted to salvage the situation, but Vipraj Nigam's sharp reflexes ensured the ball crashed into the stumps before he could make his ground. With just one run to his name, Abhishek was left fuming as he walked back to the dugout. His look of sheer frustration spoke volumes, and the video of his dismissal went viral, sparking heated debates among fans.
SRH supporters were left fuming after the mix-up, with many blaming Head for the miscommunication. Social media erupted with reactions, with fans expressing their disappointment over the unnecessary dismissal.
“Abhishek was clearly telling Head not to run! This was so avoidable,” wrote one disgruntled supporter.
Another fan echoed similar sentiments, posting, “Head should’ve trusted his partner’s call. That’s a wasted wicket.”
DC capitalised on the early breakthrough, with Mitchell Starc dismantling SRH's top order in a fiery spell. Ishan Kishan, who had earlier played a sensational knock in SRH's opening game, failed to replicate his heroics, falling for just 2 runs off 5 balls. Nitish Reddy followed suit, perishing for a two-ball duck as he mistimed a big shot, gifting an easy catch to Axar Patel.
Travis Head, the architect of Abhishek's run-out, also failed to make amends. He looked promising in his brief stay at the crease but was eventually caught behind off Starc's bowling for 22 off 12 balls. With three quick wickets down, SRH found themselves in deep trouble.
Amidst the chaos, Heinrich Klaasen attempted to stabilise the innings, showing glimpses of his power-hitting ability. However, just as he looked set to take control, Mohit Sharma dismissed him for 32 off 19 balls. With Klaasen's departure, SRH's hopes of posting a competitive total took a major hit.
Despite a bright start to the season, SRH’s campaign has been plagued by inconsistency. After winning their opening match, they suffered a setback against Lucknow Super Giants and now find themselves struggling against Delhi. The recurring failures of their top-order batters have only added to their woes.
