A clinical Delhi Capitals side outplayed Sunrisers Hyderabad to secure their second consecutive victory of the IPL 2025 season on Sunday.
The Capitals delivered a commanding performance to register a comprehensive seven-wicket victory in Vizag.

Batting first, SRH struggled early after opting to bat. Abhishek Sharma was run out cheaply, and Mitchell Starc ran through the top order, dismissing Ishan Kishan, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Travis Head in quick succession. At 37/4, SRH were in deep trouble, but a 77-run stand between Heinrich Klaasen and youngster Aniket Verma revived their innings. Klaasen played a fiery cameo of 32 off 19 before falling to a sharp catch, while Verma impressed with a brilliant 74 off 41 balls, striking six sixes in his knock. However, once both fell, the tail couldn't provide much resistance and SRH were bowled out for 163 in 18.4 overs. Starc claimed a five-wicket haul (5/35), his first in T20s, while Kuldeep Yadav chipped in with 3/22.
In response, DC openers Faf du Plessis and Jake Fraser-McGurk provided a fluent start. Du Plessis led the charge with a rapid 50 off 27 balls, while Fraser-McGurk added 38 off 32. Debutant Zeeshan Ansari picked up both openers and later bowled KL Rahul for 15 (off 5 balls), finishing with 3/42. However, Abishek Porel (34* off 18) and Tristan Stubbs (21* off 14) took the Capitals home in a canter as they registered their second consecutive win of the season.
Sunrisers Hyderabad: 163 all out in 18.4 overs
Delhi Capitals: 166/3 in 16 overs
Axar Patel (DC): I have told before that I am going to lead the side in the same manner. You need to be up with your game. You can't take any game easily, there are 10 good teams playing. We need to focus on our plans and process. Today we were successful in doing so. Plan was to give Starc two overs at the start and two overs at the end, but he was in good rhythm. Hence, I gave him the third over and he was able to pick an important wicket. We have experienced players in the team, they give me suggestions. Sometimes I follow them. Enjoying playing with these players. We are playing at Kotla since many years, we'll have similar plans. Need to assess the conditions after going there.
Pat Cummins (SRH): We didn't get going, didn't get a score on the board. A few wrong shots, but catches in the deep does happen in this format of the game. I don't think it's a big margin, on another day, you get going with a couple of shots, not everything went our way in the last two games, we can look back and think about different options. Coming into the tournament, everyone was super impressed with him going into the lead-up to the tournament (on Aniket Verma), was fantastic and gave us half a chance, was impressive with the way he went about things (during the net sessions and practice games). It's too early to worry about being two down, hopefully we'll get back going forward, as I said, we need to have a look at a few of our options.
