DC vs SRH: While Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) faltered in yet another high-stakes IPL 2025 encounter, the performances of two young rookies, Aniket Verma and Zeeshan Ansari, provided a silver lining for the franchise.
Despite a seven-wicket defeat to Delhi Capitals (DC) in Vizag, the duo showcased resilience, skill, and promise, offering hope for SRH's future. MyKhel takes a deep dive into their performances on the day.

In a batting line-up featuring seasoned names like Travis Head, Heinrich Klaasen, and Ishan Kishan, it was 23-year-old Aniket Verma who emerged as the standout performer. With SRH struggling at 37 for 4 in the fifth over, Aniket walked in and took charge with an aggressive yet calculated approach. His 41-ball 74, laced with five fours and six towering sixes, was the backbone of SRH's innings, which eventually folded for 163.
Aniket's fearless strokeplay was evident as he launched into Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav, two of DC's most experienced spinners. A couple of missed chances early in his innings-one from a direct hit and another from a leading edge-gave him reprieves, and he made them count in grand style. Alongside Klaasen, he put together a crucial 77-run stand off just 40 deliveries, reviving SRH's innings after Mitchell Starc's fiery opening spell had left them in disarray.
Despite his heroics, Aniket lacked the necessary support from the rest of the batting unit. Once Klaasen departed, the innings lost momentum, and SRH failed to capitalize on the platform he had laid, leaving eight deliveries unused.
On the bowling front, Zeeshan Ansari made a memorable return to the T20 format after six long years. The 25-year-old spinner, who had impressed in the recent UP T20 League, showcased his wicket-taking ability by claiming 3 for 42, briefly igniting hopes of an SRH fightback.
DC's chase had begun in dominant fashion, with Faf du Plessis and Jake Fraser-McGurk stitching together an 81-run opening stand. Ansari's first spell was wayward, marked by half-trackers, but he quickly found his rhythm. He dismissed du Plessis with a well-flighted delivery, forced Fraser-McGurk into a return catch, and then castled KL Rahul around his legs.
Though his efforts brought a glimmer of hope for SRH, the target was simply too small to defend. Abishek Porel (34*) and Tristan Stubbs (22*) comfortably guided DC home in 16 overs.
Despite SRH's second successive loss, the emergence of Aniket Verma and Zeeshan Ansari was a significant takeaway. While the team's seasoned players failed to deliver, these two youngsters displayed the hunger and ability to compete at the highest level.
If SRH can nurture and back them with more opportunities, they could become integral parts of the team's long-term plans. For now, their spirited performances offer a rare positive amid the struggles of a star-studded yet underperforming unit.
