Who won yesterday's WPL Match: Chinelle Henry and Grace Harris starred as UP Warriorz (UPW) avenged the reverse fixture loss againts Delhi Capitals (DC) with a 33-run victory in Bengaluru on Saturday (February 22).
Put into bat, UP Warriorz lost seven wickets with the scorecard reading 109/7 in 15.4 overs, but then it was the Chinelle Henry show – a joint fastest fifty in WPL that set a challenging total of 177/9 in their allotted 20 overs at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
In response, Jemimah Rodrigues’ fifty kept Delhi Capitals in the fight until Kranti Goud and Grace Harris, including a hattrick, shared four wickets each to floor the opposition for 144.
With this result, UP Warriorz registered their first win of the campaign, having lost to DC in the reverse fixture and Gujarat Giants. Despite the win, UPW only moved to fourth, while Delhi Capitals (DC) remained in third level on points RCB and MI in the WPL points table.
UPW-W all-rounder Chinelle Henry received the player of the match award for her quickfire 62 off 23 balls that included 8 sixes, helping UP Warriorz set a challenging total before she returned to claim one wicket with the ball.
UP Warriorz’s Chinelle Henry was the top run-getter on the night with 62 off 23 balls, while Delhi Capitals’ Jemimah Rodrigues (56 off 35 balls) was the next highest run-scorer in yesterday’s match.
DC’s Jess Jonassen (4/31) as well as UPW duo of Grace Harris (4/15) and Kranti Goud (4/25) all claimed four wickets each to finish as joint highest wicket-takers. Harris, however, was the pick of the bowlers on the night due to her hattrick.
