DDCA congratulates Team India; lauds Gambhir for his batting display

New Delhi, Sep 25 (UNI) The Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA) today congratulated Team India for winning the inaugural Twenty20 World Cup, defeating Pakistan in a pulsating final last evening in Johannesburg.

''We congratulate the entire team for lifting the inaugural Twenty20 World Cup,'' DDCA vice president C K Khanna said in a press release.

He also lauded city lad Gautam Gambhir's splendid batting display in the finals yesterday.

''We also appreciate Gautam Gambhir for his splendid knock of 75 in the finals which laid the foundation for India's victory over Pakistan,'' Mr Khanna, who is also the secretary of Chand Khanna Club, said.

The 26-year-old stylish left-hander had been playing for the Chand Khanna Club in DDCA league right from his school days.

The DDCA vice-president also informed that both Virender Sehwag and Gambhir, who were integral part of the triumphant Indian team, would be felicitated by the DDCA and the Chand Khanna club on their arrival at the capital.

Adding to it, DDCA president Arun Jaitley also announced appropriate awards for both the cricketers which would be given to them in a function to here be held in their honour shortly.
