DDCA to felicitate Sehwag on April 15

By Staff
New Delhi, Apr 10: Lauding Chennai triple centurian Virender Sehwag, DDCA president Arun Jaitley today announced that the swashbuckling opener will be honoured along with T20 World Cup teammate Gautam Gambhir and the Ranji Trophy champion Delhi team on April 15.

''Sehwag played a brilliant knock in the Chennai Test,'' Jaitley told mediapersons here. ''We will felicitate him and Gautam Gambhir for winning the T20 World Cup last year.'' ''The Delhi team which won the Ranji Trophy this year will also be felicitated,'' he added.
He also declared that former India opener Chetan Chauhan and Sunil Dev, who was the manager of Team India during the inaugural T20 World Cup last year will also be honoured.

The newly renovated Feroz Shah Kotla stadium will be formally inaugurated on the same day.

BCCI president Sharad Pawar and Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit will be present during the inauguration.

The Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA) and GMR Sports - the sponsors of the Delhi Daredevils - have been working very closely on the preparations for the IPL matches to be held in the city.

''We have made all out efforts to ensure a good, enjoyable experience for the spectators,'' Jaitley said.''The stadium has been totally spruced up for the occasion.'' The most significant among the several changes in the stadium are the state-of-the-art practice facilities which are coming up.

The inauguration ceremony will also include an unofficial match featuring the players of the Delhi Daredevils team.
