DEL-W vs MI-W Dream11 prediction, WPL Final 2023: Delhi Capitals vs Mumbai Indians fantasy picks

By MyKhel Staff

DEL-W vs MI-W Dream11 prediction, WPL Final 2023: Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians will square off in the final of the Women's Premier League final at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday (March 26). The match will start at 7:30 PM IST.

The two teams have dominated the WPL 2023 from the beginning with Mumbai Indians enjoying early dominance. However, Delhi Capitals pipped Mumbai Indians to the top of the table in the closing stages of the group phases and booked that direct spot to the final.

Mumbai then had to beat UP Warriorz in the WPL eliminator to reach the final but there's little to separate the two finalists. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side finished tied on points in the points table and were separated by net run rate. The two fixtures between the sides saw Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals win one each with the latter winning the latest clash by nine wickets at the DY Patil.

DEL-W vs MI-W injury update, key players

Delhi Capitals injury update: There's no news of injury from Delhi Capitals camp a day ahead of the match as the team head into the match at full strength.

DEL-W batters: Meg Lanning lead Orange Cap race; Shafali Verma key to explosive start

Delhi Capitals openers Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma have been among the most consistent pair, if not the best, this WPL 2023 with runs in galore. The duo has combined to score 551 runs this tournament with skipper Lanning leading the Orange cap race with 310 runs.

Shafali, on the other hand, has smashed 12 sixes while striking at the rate of 182.57, the highest this season. The team has another key player in Jemimah Rodrigues, who is often asked to bat in the closing stages of the innings and has played the role well at a strike rate of 130 but hasn't played any big knocks yet with others firing in the middle order as well.

DEL-W all-rounders: Kapp, Capsey and Jonassen form lethal foreign trio

Marizanne Kapp has been the pace all-rounder that other franchises lacked. The pacer has been among the most economical bowlers in WPL 2023 at a rate of 5.75 and has bowled the most dot balls at 109 in return for nine wickets in eight games. Her batting has been up to the mark as well with knocks of 34*, 36, and 32* in the last three innings.

English all-rounder Alice Capsey comes into the game as the match-winner from the last game with three wickets and 34* during an unbeaten stand with Kapp. Capsey has scored 132 runs in the last four innings as her services are called for whenever Capitals want to up the run rate as she strikes at 159 in WPL 2023. Left-arm spinner Jess Jonassen has been more effective with the ball with five wickets in three games but is a capable batter, who strikes at 145-plus.

DEL-W bowlers: Shikha Pandey becomes face of Indian pace at WPL

In many ways, Renuka Singh Thakur was expected to be the face of Indian pace bowling at the WPL 2023 but it was Shikha Pandya, who shone at the tournament and has taken 10 wickets in eight games. Her bowling economy has been outstanding as well at 6.71 as Pandey used her experience to adjust her line and length to keep the batters guessing. However, it's worth pointing out that she hasn't been effective at the Brabourne off late.

There's a further pace option in Arundhati Reddy, who is used as a utility bowler, who assists Pandey and Kapp on the pace front. Among Indian spinners, Radha Yadav has played the supporting role to Capsey and Jonassen but did bowl an impressive 2/28 in the last game.

MI-W injury update, team news

MI-W batters/wicketkeeper: Yashtika Bhatia, and Harmanpreet Kaur reliable with runs
Yashtika Bhatia (wicketkeeper) and Harmanpreet Kaur have been consistent Indian faces among Mumbai Indians batters. Opener Bhatia has often provided a good start to MI-W and has accumulated 210 runs at an average of 23.33 and is the obvious choice for wicket-keeper.

Harmanpreet Kaur has scored 244 runs as the team's third-highest run scorer but has endured a dip in form with over the last two innings. However, it's worth noting that in the last two knocks, she played at Brabourne, the skipper has hit two half-centuries.

MI-W all-rounders on par with DEL-W quality

It will be an interesting battle as far as all-rounders are concerned with Mumbai Indians' all-rounders have been the match-winners from the beginning of the tournament. Likes of Hayley Matthews, Nat Sciver Brunt, and Amelia Kerr have won matches in tandem and one of them could very well decide the final for MI-W.

Nat Sciver-Brunt, who has made the No. 3 position her own in the batting order, delivered a 72 in the last game and has 272 runs as one of the front runners for the Orange cap. She also has taken 10 wickets this WPL with seven of the English medium pacer's wickets coming in the last five games.

Batting all-rounder Hayley Matthews is ahead of her with 13 wickets and has 258 runs this WPL 2023 at an average of 32-plus. New Zealand wrist-spinner Amelia Kerr has been right there in the Purple Cap race too with as many wickets as Matthews and has shown her quality with the bat to the Indian crowds too with knocks of 29 and 31* in the last two games.

MI-W bowler: Issy Wong grabs limelight ahead of final; Saika Ishaque back in Purple Race

Issy Wong, a prudent batter as well, showed her quality with the ball in the last game as the English express pacer took a hat-trick in the last game while finishing with a spell of 4/15. The performance brought her up the pace in the Purple cap race as her wicket tally soared to 12 wickets in nine games.

However, it's Saika Ishaque, who is back in the highest wicket-taking race as the left-arm spinner took three wickets in the last two games and is now just two wickets away from surpassing Sophie Ecclestone in the Purple Cap race. Also, listed among pacers, Pooja Vastrakar's role has been limited to utility bowler and has been expected to play the role of a finisher with the bat instead.
