Unbelievable strike rate of 422.22: Delhi's Chris Morris sets new IPL record

Pune, April 12: Delhi Daredevils (DD) batsman Chris Morris set a new record during their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 match against Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) here last night (April 11). (Match scorecard)

At the MCA Stadium on Tuesday night, DD thrashed RPS by 97 runs. Young Sanju Samson was the top scorer for DD with a superb knock of 102.

Samson's century was overshadowed later in the innings when South African Morris blitzed 38 not out off just 9 balls.

The right-hander's unbelievable strike rate of 422.22 is the best in IPL for an innings. He eclipsed his compatriot Albie Morkel's 400.00 (28 off 7), according to the tournament's official website.

Morkel's effort was for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Chennai in 2012.

Morris walked out to bat at number six and what followed from his bat was total demolition of Pune bowlers. He smashed 4 fours and 3 sixes. He did not play out a single dot ball.

The right-hander started off with a boundary off legspinner Adam Zampa and finished the innings off with a six off Ben Stokes.

The 20th and final over of the innings, bowled by Stokes, was plundered for 22 runs off 5 balls, by Morris. The first ball of the over was played by Corey Anderson for 1 run.
