Delhi Capitals have given a massive hint on their IPL 2025 retentions with an Instagram post titled 'Tridev'. As suspense on the number of players each of the ten IPL teams will be allowed to retain grows, the Delhi-based franchise seemed to have zeroed down on their top three picks.
The post title 'DC ke Tridev' features Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant, vice-captain Axar Pant, and star spinner Kuldeep Yadav. All these three players were part of India's T20 World Cup 2024-winning squad. In fact, each of them played all the matches for India in the tournament.

Rishabh Pant returned to lead the team after his 14-month injury layoff in IPL 2024, and top-scored for the team with 446 runs in 13 matches at an average of 40.54 and a strike rate of 155.40.
Axar Patel scored 235 runs at an average of 29.37 and a strike rate of 131.28. He also picked 11 wickets at an economy rate of 7.65. Kuldeep Yadav was the leading wicket-taker amongst spinners. He picked 16 wickets, just one short of most successdful DC bowlers Mukesh Kumar and Khaleel Ahmed.
Recently, a report in Cricbuzz on Friday (August 9) stated that BCCI is unlikely to do away with the mega auction. It added that the ten teams might get to retain six players each including the Right to Match (RTM) options.
In 2022, the BCCI had only allowed four retentions and disallowed the RTM provision. The option is set to make a comeback in the mega auction. It will allow the teams to automatically buy a player who represented them last season if they match the highest bid.
Delhi Capitals ahead retained Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel, Prithvi Shaw and Anrich Nortje ahead of IPL 2022 mega auction.
