For the upcoming IPL 2025, Delhi Capitals are set to announce their retained players list on Thursday (31 October).
There were earlier reports that Rishabh Pant could part ways with Delhi Capitals this season as the skipper wanted to continue as a captain but the franchise has some other plans. However, after long discussions from both sides, they failed to reach any conclusion, and as a result, Pant has been released by Capitals.

Other than Pant, Delhi’s retention list is the same as expected. All-rounder Axar Patel has been retained along with Kuldeep Yadav. For the last couple of seasons, this spinner duo have looked quite formidable. Tristan Stubbs is also retained along with another wicketkeeper-batter Abhishek Porel. Porel has been retained as an uncapped player.
Axar Patel: The all-rounder joined DC in 2018 and also retained in the last mega auction of 2021. Patel has been crucial for Delhi throughout the seasons. Last season he scored 235 runs and took 11 wickets for DC. As Rishabh Pant is absent, Patel will be given more responsibility, and a chance to become captain is also a possibility.
Kuldeep Yadav: The 29-year-old left-arm wrist spinner will provide the necessary experience in the DC bowling attack. Yadav joined the Capitals from KKR before the 2022 season. Last season the 'Chinaman’ bowler took 16 wickets for DC.
Tristan Stubbs: The South African wicketkeeper-batter joined Delhi Capitals in 2023 December and became one of the most influential players of the DC squad. He scored a total of 378 runs in the last season which also was the second highest score just after Pant.
Abhishek Porel: One of the best young players of the last IPL and remained consistent throughout the tournament. He joined Delhi Capitals in the last season and amassed 327 runs. As an uncapped player, he has been an easy choice for DC to retain.
