Delhi Capitals Set for Major Overhaul in IPL 2027? Ganguly, Yuvraj Singh Fuel Coaching Revamp Buzz

Delhi Capitals could be heading into a new era behind the scenes, with two of India's most celebrated white-ball stars, Sourav Ganguly and Yuvraj Singh, emerging as central figures in the franchise's plans for the next IPL cycle.

Ganguly and Yuvraj were recently spotted at a Delhi Capitals training and talent-identification camp at the Just Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, immediately fuelling speculation about a significant overhaul of the franchise's support staff. The camp was primarily focused on assessing emerging Indian talent, with several young players getting an opportunity to impress the DC think tank.

Yuvraj was particularly involved in the batting sessions, operating behind the nets and offering technical inputs to young batters. His presence is especially significant given reports that the former India all-rounder is set to take up a batting-coach role with Delhi Capitals for IPL 2027 - what would be his first coaching assignment in the IPL.

The 2011 World Cup hero has already developed a reputation as a mentor to India's emerging batting stars. His association with Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma has given him considerable credibility as someone capable of combining technical expertise with the demands of modern T20 batting.

Ganguly, meanwhile, is expected to assume a broader role within Delhi Capitals' cricket structure, with reports indicating that he could take charge as Director of Cricket. The former India captain has already had a long association with the franchise and brings extensive experience in team-building, administration and strategic planning.

The Bengaluru camp also featured former India leg-spinner Amit Mishra, who was involved in assessing bowling talent and helping oversee the sessions. The presence of several high-profile former India players has only strengthened the perception that DC are looking beyond a routine coaching adjustment and towards a wider restructuring of their cricketing operations.

The timing is particularly intriguing after Delhi Capitals completed a major trade to bring Rishabh Pant back from Lucknow Super Giants. Pant returned to the franchise in June 2026 as part of a trade that sent Kuldeep Yadav to LSG, with Pant rejoining DC at a revised fee of ₹15 crore. He had previously spent nine seasons with Delhi, making 111 appearances and captaining the side for four seasons.
