The first edition of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2024 kicked of on Saturday (August 17) as South Delhi Superstarz defeated Purani Dilli 6 by three wickets in the opener.
The likes of Rishabh Pant and Ayush Badoni featured in the opener. South Delhi Superstarz bowlers Divij Mehra, Ayush Badoni and Kunwar Bidhuri picked a wicket each to restrict Purani Dilli 6 to 197/3 in 20 overs.

In reply, South Delhi chased the target with three wickets and five balls remaining. Purani Dillip bowler Shivam Sharma picked two wickets for 38 runs in four overs.
East Delhi Riders defeated Yash Dhull's Central Delhi Kings by 10 wickets in the afternoon match on Sunday, August 18. A 10-over per-side match was played due to delay in start due to rain.
In the evening fixture, West Delhi Lions chased down a 145-run total with three wickets and nine balls remaining. Impact substitute Ekant Dobal scored 27 off 24 for West Delhi. North Delhi Strikers Impact substitute Anirudh Chowdhary picked two wickets for 25 runs in three overs.

A total of 33 matches including two semi-finals and a final on September 8 will be played in he inaugural season of the Delhi Premier League 2024. Six teams - Purani Dilli 6, South Delhi Superstarz, Central Delhi Kings, West Delhi Lions, North Delhi Strikers and East Delhi Riders - are participating in the tournament.
The top four teams after the league stage will play in the semi-finals. All the matches will be held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
