"There are demands for naming a street or chowk (square) after Tendulkar. A meeting of the MCD House on January 11 may consider these demands," said Abbi. She, however, denied that there was a proposal to rename Chandni Chowk.

"FM Radio 104 had received around two lakh requests for naming a capital road after Tendulkar. They forwarded the request to us," said the mayor.

Suman Kumar Gupta, a mayor is planning to move a resolution seeking to rename Chandni Chowk to Tendulkar Chowk

"We will be happy to do that but the current convention is that a road is named after someone only posthumously," said Subhash Arya, MCD Leader of House adding that the civic agency would be glad to name a road after Tendulkar.
