Former India captain Sachin Tendulkar’s son Arjun Tendulkar has been named in the South Zone squad which will be led by Mayank Agarwal in Deodhar Trophy 2023. The inter-zonal 50-over competition is scheduled to start in Puducherry from July 24.
The top performers from each of the south zone states have got a look-in with a few like B Sai Sudharsan being kept as standby as they will be playing the Emerging Asia Cup in Colombo from July 13-23.

Arjun, a left-arm fast medium bowler and a hard-hitting lower-order batter, made his much-anticipated IPL debut for Mumbai Indians this year. He played four matches and picked three wickets at an average of 30.67 and an economy rate of 9.36.
The 23-year-old, who shifted to Goa from Mumbai, last year. With eight scalps, he finished the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022-23 season as the joint-highest wicket-taker for Goa. The Mumbai-born cricketer has been called up by the BCCI for an Emerging all-rounders’ camp in August.
Arjun will be part of a South zone pace attack which includes Karnataka duo of Vidwath Kaverappa and Vyshak Vijaykumar. Kaverappa and Vijaykumar played together for South Zone in the Duleep Trophy 2023 as well. Karnataka's Vasuki Koushik is also part of the pace attack.
The squad also includes India internationals Devdutt Padikkal and Washington Sundar. Kolkata Knight Riders' (KKR) Tamil Nadu wicketkeeper-batter also features in the squad alongside Andhra stumper Ricky Bhui.
South Zone will lock horns with North Zone in the series opener on Monday, July 24. The side faces Central Zone in their second match on Wednesday, July 26. All the matches will be played at three grounds in Puducherry.
