Six domestic zonal sides will compete for the Deodhar Trophy title as the limited-overs tournament starts on Monday (July 24).
The tournament is being held for the first time since 2019. This is the 48th edition of the tournament and all the matches will be played in Puducherry this year.

The tournament will be played across six zones, forming part of the 2023 Indian domestic cricket season, announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) earlier this year.
The entire cricket map of the country has been divided into six zones - East Zone, West Zone, North Zone, South Zone, Central Zone, North East Zone.
The tournament will start on July 24 and will continue till August 3. There will be 15 group stage matches till August 1 and the final will be played at the Cricket Association Puducherry Siechem Ground in Puducherry.

North Zone is the most successful team in Deodhar Trophy with 13 titles. East Zone is the last zonal team to win the title in its old format when it was used to be played with four teams. Tamil Nadu is the only state to win Deodhar Trophy.
