Dhoni completes 10 years in international cricket; Fans trend '10yearsofDHONIsm'

Bangalore, Dec 23: India captain MS Dhoni today completed 10 years in international cricket. At the age of 23, he made his international debut on December 23, 2004 against Bangladesh in Chittagong in a ODI.

Dhoni, the only skipper in the history of the game to have won all three ICC trophies (, World T20 and Champions Trophy), has emerged as one of the best leaders in international cricket, in the shorter formats. However, his Test record still remains poor.

The 33-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman had a forgettable international debut a decade ago when he was run out for a duck in his maiden ODI. Batting at number 7, Dhoni got run out off the very first ball he played.

Putting that behind, Dhoni has emerged as one of the best finishers in 50-over and 20-over cricket. He took India to World Cup glory in 2011.

In his maiden captaincy stint in 2007 at the World T20 in South Africa, he brought with a young side. Last year, he completed a historic treble by clinching the Champions Trophy in England. He also took India to No. 1 in ICC Rankings both in Tests and ODIs. Dhoni is the most successful (27 wins) Indian Test captain and has led the team in most number of matches (59).

Dhoni, who enjoys a huge fan following, is currently in Australia, playing the four-Test series. India is trailing 0-2. The third Test starts in Melbourne on December 26.

So far, Dhoni has played 89 Tests, 250 ODIs and 50 T20Is. He has over 13,000 runs in international cricket and exactly 500 catches as a wicketkeeper.

Apart from his achievements on the international stage, he has taken Chennai Super Kings to Indian Premier League (IPL) and Champions League Twenty20 victories. (Dhoni's unwanted record)
