Dhruv Jurel equalled MS Dhoni's 20-year-old record for taking most catches by a wicket-keeper in a single Duleep Trophy innings. The 23-year-old from Uttar Pradesh picked as many as seven wickets in India B's second innings.
The 23-year-old picked five wickets on Day 3 (Saturday), and two more on Sunday. Jurel picked the catches of India B captain Abhimanyu Easwaran, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Musheer Khan, Sarfaraz Khan, Nitish Reddy, Sai Kishore and Navdeep Saini. He picked just one catch in the first innings.

MS Dhoni picked seven catches in an innings of a Duleep Trophy match in 2004-05. No other wicket-keepers other than Jurel and Dhoni have picked more than seven wickets in an innings of a Duleep Trophy match.
However, the young wicketkeeper-batter failed with the bat in both the innings. He was dismissed for two runs off 16 balls in the first innings. He was trapped in front of the stumps of Navdeep Saini.
In the second innings, he was dismissed for a first-ball duck by Yash Dayal. The wicket left India A reeling at 76/4 in their 275-run chase. He was India's designated wicketkeeper-batter in their last Test match against England in March.
Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant has impressed on his red-ball comeback. He smashed a 34-ball fifty against India A which played a crucial role in setting a competitive 275-run target at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Bengaluru.
KS Bharat wasted another opportunity and managed to scored just 13 and 16 runs in the two innings of his Duleep Trophy 2024 outing for India D. Other wicket-keeping Ishan Kishan missed the first round match of Duleep Trophy 2024 due to injury, and is unlikely to be picked for the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh.
Therefore, there is a high chance that Dhruv Jurel would be retained as the second-choice wicketkeeper-batter after Pant, for the series.
