Digvesh Rathi Scalps Five Wickets in Five Balls, Sparks Social Media Frenzy With Viral Video: WATCH

Fresh off an eventful IPL 2025 campaign with the Lucknow Super Giants, young leg-spinner Digvesh Rathi has once again made headlines-this time for a jaw-dropping feat in a local T20 tournament.

A clip that recently surfaced online shows Rathi dismantling batters in a stunning display of wrist spin, claiming five wickets in as many deliveries.

The remarkable spell has quickly gone viral, with cricket fans lauding the Delhi-born cricketer for his control and deception.

Rathi, who impressed during this year's IPL with his ability to handle pressure, had already gained notoriety for his animated 'notebook celebration'-a move that cost him fines on more than one occasion.

Despite his personal success-14 wickets in 13 matches at an economy of 8.25-Rathi's team, the Lucknow Super Giants, failed to secure a spot in the playoffs for the second year running. Nevertheless, Rathi's passion and energy on the field have kept him in the spotlight.

One of his biggest supporters is former cricketer Yograj Singh, father of World Cup winner Yuvraj Singh. Yograj has come out in support of Rathi's expressive celebrations, urging officials to show leniency toward young players expressing themselves on the field.

"Come on man, don't fine them. It's okay. You are still friends with the bowlers. Everybody is not the same. Emotions go. Forgive them. Obviously, at the end of the day, you're friends, if you say sorry, the matter is over. Have a big heart and don't get into these petty things. What is this nonsense going on, fining kids," Yograj told Inside Sport.

As Rathi continues to build his reputation with both skill and personality, his five-wicket burst in a single over has further cemented his place among India's promising spin prospects. With the cricketing world taking note, it seems this is just the beginning for the fiery leg-spinner and who knows, he could be a big asset as far as the shortest format is concerned.
