The BCCI's diktat asking all top cricketers to participate in domestic cricket has been lauded by former players. Former spinner Dilip Doshi is one of those who completely aligns with the idea. He says the move will sharpen their skills, maintain fitness, and inspire younger talents.
Doshi's support for the BCCI's decision likely stems from his belief in the importance of domestic cricket as the backbone of Indian cricket. It ensures that no player, regardless of their stature, takes their place for granted, while will also help them regain form or rhythm in a more competitive environment.

"When you get a kick on your butt for a reality check-up, you have to go back to the drawing board if you have to survive in a very competitive world of sports. Fortunately for India, Jadeja has done that with success and the others will also find their bearings very soon," Doshi told MyKhel.
However, the mixed reactions indicate that such moves can be polarising - some might view it as a necessary step for accountability, while others might perceive it as a challenge to a player's stature. If you have a specific player in mind, we can dive deeper into their situation. "I did the same. Even there as a five days gap between two home Test matches, I did play for Bengal within that period and Test cricketers were expected to do that," Doshi said.
He then reminded that Rohit Sharma & Co. isn't doing something for the first time. It's been there for ages. "Then you look at the cricketing gods in Bradman, Sobers and Tendulkar, they did the same as well. There is no room for complacency. A match-practice is million times better than having multiple net sessions," Doshi added.
