Dinesh Karthik defended Virat Kohli after a fan questioned the failures of the superstar batter in both the innings of the Chennai Test. against Bangladesh. Returning to Test cricket after eight months, Kohli failed to make an impression despite India's massive 280-run win.
The fan pointed out that Kohli's comeback wasn't anything close to what the fans anticipated, asking that will the Test series against Bangladesh make him aware about the areas he needs to work on.

"Kohli's return to Tests hasn't been what we were eager to see. He is a beast but do you think he will have to look back at this series as an eye-opener for him to work on a few things?" asked a fan to the former wicket-keeper batter on Cricbuzz.
Dinesh Karthik quickly came to the rescue of his former India and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) teammate. He said that failure to just two innings should not lead to questioning the greatness of the former world number one batter.
"Why? Two innings, he has gotten out, sir? Two innings? It's Virat Kohli, he is completely okay. One Test doesn't change anything about his life. He is a champion. Big matches, who do you want? Virat Kohli! He is the king," Dinesh Karthik responded.
Virat Kohli was caught in slip for six in the first innings after a brilliant delivery from young Bangladesh pacer Hasan Mahmud. In the second innings, spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz trapped him in front of the stumps for 17.
Virat Kohli, who has scored 1553 runs at an average of 34.51 in 27 Test matches since the start of 2021, is just 129 runs away from 9000 Test runs. India have opted to bat second in the ongoing second Test in Kanpur.
