Stating that he was looking forward to a "new beginning" and "more challenges," 29-year-old Ashwin feels there was "no stagnating" for him.

For the first time since the launch of IPL, Ashwin will be forced to play for a new team. Since the start of the league in 2008, Ashwin has been with his home franchise - Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

With CSK and Rajasthan Royals (RR) both suspended for 2 years (2016 and 2017) due to betting by official/co-owner of the teams, Ashwin and other players will be picked in a draft and also in the auction.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has already announced the new franchises - Pune and Rajkot, who will replace CSK and RR for 2 years. CSK and RR wil return to the league in 2018 after serving the ban.

The players draft will be held on December 15 in Mumbai. Pune and Rajkot will have a chance to pick players from CSK and RR while the rest go into the auction to be held on February 6, 2016 in Bengaluru.

"In three days time,Pune or Rajkot will be my new summer destination. Looking forward to a new beginning and more challenges," Ashwin wrote today on his Twitter account talking about the players draft.

He, however, added the he is ready to be in the auction as well and play for any team in case both Pune and Rajkot don't pick him. After the Test series against South Africa, Ashwin has returned to domestic cricket, currently playing for Tamil Nadu in the Vijay Hazare Trophy one-day tournament.

"If I don't make it to both (Pune and Rajkot) of these teams,I will go into the auction. Does not matter who picks me, all I need is new challenges. No stagnating," Ashwin who won a record equalling Man-of-the-series award in the recently concluded India-South Africa Test series, added.
