DPL 2025: Rishabh Pant ruled Out as Purani Dilli 6 names New Captain for Season 2

As the Delhi Premier League (DPL) gears up for its much-anticipated second season, there's a notable shake-up for the Purani Dilli 6 team.

India's star wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant, who had previously been a marquee player, will not be part of the squad this season. Pant has been ruled out for at least six weeks after he suffered a fractured foot in the 4th Test against England in Manchester.

As Pant won't be present in the DPL, Purani Dilli has appointed Vansh Bedi as their new captain, signaling a fresh leadership direction ahead of the tournament's start.

Purani Dilli 6, who made it to the semi-finals of the 2024 edition, are aiming to go one step further this time. Vansh Bedi, who impressed with his performances in the domestic circuit last year, will now lead the team. Mr. Akash Nangia, the team owner, expressed confidence in Vansh's leadership qualities, praising his youthful energy and astute cricketing mindset. Nangia emphasized the team's intent to uphold the spirit of Purani Delhi while playing aggressive and bold cricket under Vansh's captaincy.

The team also announced PUMA as their official jersey sponsor and Radio Mirchi as their official radio partner for Season 2.

Purani Dilli 6 kick off their campaign on August 5 against Outer Delhi Warriors at 2 PM at the iconic Arun Jaitley Stadium. They face strong contests lined up, including matches against West Delhi Lions, New Delhi Tigers, and South Delhi Superstarz, with several games scheduled under lights.

This season's DPL features eight men's teams divided into two groups of four, competing in a mix of double and single round-robin matches. Following the league stage, the top four teams advance to the playoffs, culminating in the men's final on August 31, with a reserve day on September 1.
