DPL Corruption Probe: What We Know So Far

The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) has referred allegations of corruption surrounding the recently concluded Delhi Premier League (DPL) to the relevant authorities, after reports emerged of a player being approached over a potential fixing matter.

The association said the allegations remain unverified and stressed that no conclusions should be drawn about any player or franchise until the matter has been examined through the appropriate processes.

The development follows an investigative report by *Tehelka*, which quoted a former Ranji Trophy cricketer claiming he had access to team information and could facilitate spot-fixing during the DPL.

Vansh Bedi reported approach to Anti-Corruption Wing

Central Delhi Kings wicketkeeper-batter Vansh Bedi also reported a separate corrupt approach during the 2026 DPL, according to DDCA secretary Ashok Sharma.

Sharma said Bedi had promptly informed the league's Anti-Corruption Wing after being approached by a player from Uttar Pradesh who was also playing in a T20 league in the state at the time.

"Vansh Bedi promptly reported a corrupt approach to the Anti-Corruption wing from a player from Uttar Pradesh, who was also playing a T20 league in the state," Sharma said.

The DDCA said it had attached Security Liaison Officers (SLOs) to every team during the season and maintained that its anti-corruption arrangements were robust.

The association has now written to the BCCI seeking guidance on how the matter should be handled.

DDCA stresses allegations are not established facts

In its statement, the DDCA said it had taken note of reports concerning "irregularities involving certain players and a franchise" but did not identify either the players or the team.

"DDCA would like to clarify that the allegations referred to in these reports are unverified and have not been established by any competent authority," the association said.

It added that drawing conclusions against an individual, player or franchise solely on the basis of allegations would be inappropriate.

The association said it had shared the information with the respective authorities and requested that it be examined through established processes. It also said it would cooperate fully with any inquiry and take appropriate action if wrongdoing is established.

The BCCI's anti-corruption head Sharad Kumar has been approached for comment.

The 2026 DPL, the league's third edition, featured eight teams and ran from July 31 to August 30. South Delhi Superstarz defeated Central Delhi Kings in the final to win the title.

For now, the allegations remain subject to investigation, with the DDCA stressing that any action will depend on the findings of the relevant authorities.
