Duleep Trophy 2024: The star-studded squads announced for the first-round matches of Duleep Trophy 2024 have created a major buzz in the nation which considers cricket as a religion. India's next assignment is a Test match against Bangladesh starting September 19, but majority of their Test regulars will be in action in the first week of the coming month and ply their trades in the Duleep Trophy 2024.
The BCCI has made its pro-domestic cricket stance clear since the start of the year. Two high-profile players namely - Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan lost their BCCI central contracts for not turning up for domestic matches.

Days before the squad announcement for Duleep Trophy 2024, reports emerged that all the Test regulars barring Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah have been asked to feature in the Duleep Trophy. Hardik Pandya, who last played red-ball cricket in 2018, was also exempted by the BCCI.
As many as eleven Test regulars have been named in the four squads - Team A, Team B, Team C and Team D. The likes of Ishan Kishan, Washington Sundar, KS Bharat, Suryakumar Yadav, Dhruv Jurel, Sarfaraz Khan, Akash Deep, Prasidh Krishna, Devdutt Padikkal and Rajat Patidar - who have already made their Test debut for India - have also been named in the squads.
Ruturaj Gaikwad, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, Khaleel Ahmed, Avesh Khan, Sai Sudharsan, Saurabh Kumar also feature in the squads. Even though these players haven't played a Test match for India, they are expected to be in contention in the future. Gaikwad, Easwaran, Avesh and Saurabh have already been named in India Test squads in the past.
Apart from the aforementioned players, as many as ten Indian Test regulars are also set to feature at least in the first round of matches which starts from September 5 in Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh. Let's have a look.
