Amid the changes in the Duleep Trophy squads before the India vs Bangladesh Test series, India A has appointed a new captain for the remainder of the tournament.
India A started off with Shubman Gill captaining them, but the batter has left Bengaluru for Chennai to join the Indian team ahead of the Bangladesh Tests.

Gill had an underwhelming performance in the first match as India A lost to India B. The batter scored 46 runs across two innings and failed to capitalize any of his starts. And as Gill won't be available, India A has appointed a new captain.
Karnataka stalwart Mayank Agarwal has been named captain of India A for the upcoming matches in the Duleep Trophy. Agarwal has ample captaincy experience, leading Karnataka last season in the Ranji Trophy as well. The crafty batter will have a huge role to play as India A take on India D in Anantpur in their next match starting from Thursday (September 12).
The 33-year-old scored 39 runs across two innings in the first match for India A, when he only played as a batter. Agarwal has played 21 times for India in Tests and boasts an average of 41, with 1488 runs and 4 centuries to his name.
Along with Gill, KL Rahul, Dhruv Jurel, Kuldeep Yadav, Akash Deep have also left the India A team for their national commitments. Prasidh Krishna, Akshay Narang are some of the new additions to the squad.
